Infrared Sauna
Far-Infrared Sauna
|
The infrared sauna, also known as a
far-infrared sauna,
is a relatively new arrival to the sauna family. This type of sauna doesn't rely on the conventional
sauna heater,
as do the
wet saunas and
dry saunas.
Instead an infrared sauna is heated with multiple ceramic infrared heating elements. These heating elements emit infrared light to heat the people in the sauna. Infrared light is invisible to the human eye as it doesn't fall within the visible spectrum of light which our eyes can pick up. We can, however, feel infrared light - we feel it as heat.
|
The infrared sauna works in this way. The ceramic heating elements emit infrared light, this infrared light then falls on our skin and deeply penetrates though causing the molecules which make-up our tissue to vibrate rapidly. The vibration of these molecules generate a soothing therapeutic heat. This heat then slowly warms up the body and as with
regular saunas
promotes perspiration, thereby encouraging detoxification, increasing metabolic rate, and soothing soar muscles.
If the thought of infrared light scares you, it shouldn't. Infrared light is completely safe, and in fact infrared light is everywhere. Infrared light is what makes our face feel warm when it's splashed with sunlight; infrared light is the heat we feel from our cooking elements. Infrared light is even emitted from the traditional sauna heaters – from the hot volcanic rocks. The infrared sauna is simply a new twist to an old idea. As this type of sauna garners more and more acceptance it's very likely you'll be seeing many more of these saunas installed in health spas and public pools near you.

Infrared Saunas are used to burn calories, lose weight and promote detoxification. They remove body toxins and improve skin conditions. Infrared saunas increase blood circulation, relieve stress, ease pain and increase relaxation.
