Dry Saunas
Swedish Saunas
|
Dry Saunas, also known as Swedish saunas, differ from wet saunas in that they are heated to a higher temperature and lack the humidity
wet saunas
offer. The higher temperature offered by dry saunas is usually tolerable because the low humidity doesn't make the heat feel as intense. Wet saunas can often be operated in a 'dry mode' by simply not pouring water over the stones of the sauna heater.

There are a couple ways dry saunas are heated, there's the conventional electric, gas, or wood
sauna heater
or there's the latest in sauna technology, the far-infrared heater. Each of these heaters heat the sauna and the people in the sauna through (mostly) radiant heat – otherwise known as infrared radiation (or light). However, the conventional sauna heater takes longer to warm the air and the
sauna room.
Many believe dry saunas are ideal for detoxification and weight loss because of the high temperature dry saunas are heated to. The high temperature of dry saunas causes the body to use up calories faster as the heart works harder and the body's metabolic rate increases. It's been shown that a person can burn up to 300 calories in a 20 minute sauna session. Saunas have also been shown to promote a feeling of well-being and relaxation, improve circulation, relieve arthritic and muscle pain, clear complexion, as well as much more.

Infrared Saunas are used to burn calories, lose weight and promote detoxification. They remove body toxins and improve skin conditions. Infrared saunas increase blood circulation, relieve stress, ease pain and increase relaxation.
